Early Spring Cleaning:

The Wet Sheet Pack1

Here is a simple and inexpensive way to detoxify and regenerate your whole system, getting ready for the renewed energy that comes with spring. We have tried the Wet Sheet Pack with really great results. This procedure takes approximately one hour. Why not get together with a friend or family member and have a "spa" day? It is enjoyable, requires no special equipment and is free of charge. You will feel completely rejuvenated.

This ancient Yogi technique detoxifies the whole system: liver and kidney functions are improved; the skin becomes soft, velvety, and firm. The treatment loosens the dead skin on the surface, causing it to "peel" off, and it also opens up the pores of the skin, allowing them to detoxify freely and throw off the waste of the system. Toxins are brought to the surface. This is an effective treatment for weight loss and the elimination of cellulite2.

Technique:

Spread one or two thick, warm blankets over the bed. Then over this, spread several flannel sheets or blankets (if you do not have flannel, use whatever you do have). Next spread out several cotton sheets. Finally, spread out a sheet (pure cotton works best), which has been soaked in cold, water and which has been wrung out lightly to avoid dripping. Then have the person fully undress and lay down on the wet sheet, on their back, arms at their sides. Individually wrap each sheet/blanket carefully around and over them. The person will be wrapped like a mummy. Place a duvet or comforter over the person. The head should not be covered and should be raised up on a pillow. The usual time to remain in the pack is from thirty to forty-five minutes. Thirty minutes is suggested for the first time. Give the person cool water to sip (from a straw) regularly throughout and after the treatment. There should be sufficient fresh air in the room during the treatment. You may also put on some relaxing music.

Reactions:

At first the person will experience cold from the initial shock of the wet sheet against their skin. Once they are wrapped, however, they will quickly warm up. Some people might feel uncomfortable with being wrapped up like a mummy, as they will not be able to move their arms or legs. If they can get over that feeling, they will soon experience a deep sensation of relaxation. It is not unusual to fall asleep during the treatment.

After the treatment:

Unwrap the person quickly. Have them take a shower with luke-warm water and soap followed by a cool water rinse and a good rubbing down. All sheets should be washed.

This treatment can be repeated every other week for several months, depending on the need for detoxification. Thereafter if can be performed once a month.
