Thoughts on Food

Often people find making food choices for themselves very confusing. Much information is available advising us about what to eat. Some of it is contradictory. Add to that the fact that what is very right for one person may be very wrong for another. I would like to offer a way of making choices which are right for you and simple to follow.

Do just this one thing:

Eat with attention and intention

Never eat when you are distracted. Never eat on the run. Do not talk, read the paper or watch T.V. while you are eating. Pay attention to the smells of the food, the colours, the texture in your mouth. As you eat have the intention of assimilating all the nutrients that the food provides. Think about how and where it was grown, about how it was prepared. In other words, communicate with your food. Thank it for supplying you with its life force (Isn’t that what saying "grace before meals" is all about?)

If you do the above, you will reconnect with your intuition guiding you to exactly what is right for you to eat and "how much" to eat. You will never overeat again. This one change will make all the difference in your ability to properly nourish yourself.

All food contains a degree of life force. You will add to your own life force by eating foods that have a high degree of life force. Here are some more suggestions to increase the life force of your food:

Eat food that is as unadulterated and as fresh as possible. This will lead to eating foods which are fresh and unprocessed. Think about how good the strawberries that you picked yourself taste in comparison to the ones that you buy at the grocery store.

Eat food that has been prepared with love. Food that is prepared industrially does not have the same life force as a meal cooked with care.

Eat food which is in season and is locally produced, whenever possible. The less your food has traveled to get to you, the higher its life force.

Try some of these suggestions and see if they don’t make a difference for you.
